Hanson Gallery Fine Art
Art Gallery · 669 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965

The gallery's exhibition history reads like a modern-art syllabus — Picasso, Chagall, Calder, Jim Dine, Christo and Jeanne-Claude have all had work shown here, and the gallery has hosted Opus wine-series release parties and fundraisers for the Bay Area Discovery Museum and Ovarian Cancer Coalition along the way. It trades in established Modern Masters alongside contemporary artists, so the walls skew toward recognizable names rather than undiscovered locals. That makes it the anchor gallery on this stretch of Bridgeway — the one worth building your gallery-row walk around.
What To Expect
Museum-caliber pieces at prices to match — this isn't a browse-and-buy-a-print stop. Staff are used to serious collectors, but they'll talk you through a piece without pressure if you're just looking.
Getting There
On Bridgeway in the main gallery stretch, an easy add-on to a walk that also covers Galerie Elektra next door at 668 and Sausalito Center for the Arts a few blocks north at 750.
Good To Know
Open Thursday through Monday, 10 to 6; closed Tuesday and Wednesday, which trips up a fair number of midweek visitors who assume every Bridgeway shop keeps the same hours.
Our Take
If you only have time for one gallery on Bridgeway, this is the one with the name recognition to justify it — Picasso and Chagall don't turn up in many small coastal towns. Galerie Elektra next door is the better stop if you want something bolder and more contemporary instead.
