Baja-style tacos with a California twist, fast, casual, and one of the few genuinely inexpensive options left on a pricey stretch of Bridgeway. The rooster logo out front and the beach-shack blue-and-red paint job give it away before you're close enough to read the menu board. It's been family-owned since 2002 and has outlasted plenty of flashier neighbors on a street where rents keep climbing. The shop also caters, with self-serve taco bars and patio buyouts for parties, which tells you how much locals lean on it. It's at 1115 Bridgeway, a comfortable walk from the main downtown strip.
Atmosphere
Order-at-the-counter casual with outdoor tables, nothing fussy: plastic chairs, string lights, and a chalkboard specials list that changes more than the printed menu does. Seating is first-come, first-served across two heated covered patios and a sun patio. It's the kind of place you eat standing up half the time and don't mind. On a foggy day the heated patios are the smarter choice. Dogs are welcome, which adds to the loose, neighborhood feel.
What To Order
The fish tacos, Baja-style, battered rather than grilled, if you want the classic version. The horchata is worth a try too, especially on a warm afternoon when a sit-down lunch would feel like too much. The shop has a proper vegetarian and vegan menu, a kids menu and a specials board, so a mixed group can order without compromise. Ask what's on the specials list before you commit to the printed menu, since the board is where the kitchen has some fun.
