Nightlife in Sausalito

Horizons is a place that should not be missed. Serving up some excellent steak and a gorgeous view, you can hang around late while local musicians who record locally will play late into the night. This is the place where many famous people have either started out or have been regular patrons. Janis Joplin had her very own table at Horizons. The Rolling Stones were here after a concert in 1974. An unknown teenager named Robin Williams bussed tables in in the late 60s. Horizons has quite an interesting history.

The No Name Bar doesn't need another name. It's been around since the 60s and the live music is jazz. This small club is still considered to be groovy, just like the 60s. The old worn wooden furniture is still there and also the feeling of being inside a pirates' lair. With an eclectic crowd of patrons, mainly from the Marina, the No Name may not have a name, but will not be forgotten.

If you want your music live five nights a week with an enormous dance floor, try out the Sausalito SeaHorse. This is fast becoming the place to go for a nightlife to have a blast. A little place called Paterson's Bar is almost the opposite of the SeaHorse in size, but not in fun. The decor has been compared to an old 60s bars in an empty town in Ireland with a dive bar to boot. Smitty's Bar is another small local dive right at the waterfront. It's a fun place to spend time, have some tasty snacks, play pool, foosevall and shuffleboard. Having friendly people around doesn't hurt this place either.

A very secluded haunt that is mainly crowded with locals, the Ultra Modern Lounge, or the UML as it is called affectionately by the locals, may be hard to get into with limited table space. But don't despair, come early enough in the evening, or earlier, and your won't be sorry. With a variety of patrons, different dialects and languages, you will imbibe in stiff drinks and an eccentric atmosphere. A little bit of every kind of person will be here; some who even drink their wine straight from the bottle! Some of the nights have open mike, and you will not be disappointed if you are lucky enough to be at the UML for that. You will also have a choice of indoor or outdoor seating in the unique place.

Save some nightlife time for the Sausilito Cruising Club. Come to hear some of the best rhythm and blues, rock, and jazz. The jam sessions can't be beat at this classy gem on the waterfront. Another place called The Taste of Rome can also be enjoyed for these sessions.

Sausalito has a lot to offer the night crowd. Follow the people along the waterfront and they'll show you where to go to have a good time.
